As Part of JCI Scotland National Conference 2019 we will be running our annual Ten Outstanding Young Persons Awards!
JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) is a global JCI project to recognise and honour young people who excel in their chosen field. From entrepreneur experts to humanitarian heroes we look for the outstanding young leaders who are making a true difference and inspiring others across the country.
Our 2019 JCI Scotland Outstanding Young Persons nominees will be put forward with the opportunity to represent Scotland at the global TOYP awards in Tallin, Estonia at the JCI World Congress in November 2019.
This prestigious award was started in 1983 and has many notable honourees since then, including Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow founder of Scottish International Relief, Olivia Richmond Giles, a quadruple amputee who started the charity 500 Miles which aims to support amputees, principally in Malawi and Zambia. Dame Evelyn Glennie, an extraordinary world leading solo percussionist and Stelios Haji-Ioannou, owner of Easy Jet.
International winners have included Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh and Betty Makoni, winner of the UN Red Ribbon Award and chosen as an Ashoka Fellow. We are delighted to be able to recognise our own exceptional talent here in Scotland and we are hopeful that the Scottish Honourees will go forward to the International stage as their unique talents and expertise are globally renowned and worthy of worldwide recognition.
Young men and women aged between 18 – 40 may be nominated in one of ten categories for the JCI TOYP honour. An international panel of distinguished judges will select honourees. Up to ten top honourees will be selected from all nominations received, regardless of category entered.
1. Business, economic, and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment
2. Political, legal, and/or governmental affairs
3. Academic leadership and/or accomplishment
4. Cultural achievement
5. Moral and/or environmental leadership
6. Contribution to children, world peace, and/or human rights
7. Humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership
8. Scientific and/or technological development
9. Personal improvement and/or accomplishment
10. Medical innovation

Nominations close on 16th February 2019 , after the closing date all entries will be taken to our panel of judges to select the winner of each category, once selected we will be in touch with the winner and will be presented with the award on 31st March 2019 at our TOYP Awards event, details of this event below!
JCI Scotland will be awarding our Outstanding Young People with their Awards on the 29th March at the Apex International hotel, Grassmarket, Edinburgh. The evening begins at 18:00. The evening will come to a close at 20:00.
JCI Outstanding Young Person of the World Programme serves to formally recognise young people who excel in their chosen fields and create positive change. By recognising these young people JCI has raised the status of socially responsible leaders. The honourees motivate their peers to seek excellence and serve others.

After the event, winners of TOYP here in scotland will be submitted to JCI World who will be receiving winners from all around the world and shortlisted.
